Everyone has their struggles and some goals are just much more difficult to stick to than others. Of course, when you first start working on your goal(s) you are very enthusiastic. You promise yourself that you are going to succeed. You start off with every intention of seeing it through… and then what?
After some time, you start to slip. Maybe you got busy, maybe you got distract, maybe you got bored, etc. Whatever the reason is, you either slowed down or stopped altogether.
Does that mean you need to stop? Give up? NO!! Why would you want to stop? Is the goal just not that important to you anymore??
So what should you do?
- Take a good hard look at why you set this goal in the first place. What were you hoping to get out of it? What are the benefits of achieving it? What happens if you don’t?
- Take a look at your expectations. Were you unrealistic – expecting too much too soon?
- Take a look at how you were working on this goal. Did you like what you were doing? Did you dread it? Was there something else you could do instead to meet this goal?
- Start again. Recommit. In the end, if this goal is important there is no reason to give up on it. Sometimes you need to try several times or several ways in order to make it work.
Start each day with the thought that you are going to work on your goal. Even if you didn’t succeed one day, start again the next day with a commitment to try again.
BECAUSE EVERY DAY IS A CHANCE TO START AGAIN!
